The coronavirus pandemic has worsened existing income inequalities between India's super-rich and poor.
As the lockdown, wealthy homeowners rushing to the countryside, to their yachts or to private jets out of the country.
From castles and private islands to luxury underground bunkers with pools and home cinemas, we take a look at how the super-rich have spent lockdown.
It’s likely that all of us experienced the imposition of lockdown as a shock to the system, whether it made us feel lonely or listless or anxious or driven to distraction by the family constantly under each other’s heels, or all of the above, all at the same time. As individuals, we've had to make changes – both big and small – to our everyday lives.
But while physically distanced, the internet and social media have allowed us to reach into each other’s homes over the past weeks. Social relationships for many seem not to have suffered. They have also allowed us to explore hobbies and interests we might never have had before – like the people turning to social media to solve real-life mysteries from their homes.
- Restrict going out till it is necessary like buying groceries, responding to medical
care, or caring about the aged and high-risk patients. - Work from home, switching to online classes for the kids.
- Connecting to loved ones on video calls instead of in-personal visits.
- Cancelling in-person meetings and switching to web-based meetings instead.
- An absolute no to public transportation, like trains, flights, buses, or taxies.
"The rich were able to escape the pandemic's worst impact; and while the white-collar workers isolated themselves and worked from home, a majority of the not-so-fortunate Indians lost their livelihood," it said.
The report noted that billionaires like Gautam Adani, Shiv Nadar, Cyrus Poonawalla, Uday Kotak, Azim Premji, Sunil Mittal, Radhakrishan Damani, Kumar Manglam Birla and Laxmi Mittal working in sectors like coal, oil, telecom, medicines, pharmaceutical, education and retail increased their wealth exponentially since March 2020 when India announced world's biggest Covid-19 lockdown and economy came to standstill.
On the other hand, data has shown that 170,000 people lost their jobs every hour in the month of April 2020, the report said.
Findings of the report showed that rich got richer during the pandemic.
Before lockdown
Rich people never purchase liabilities. They always buy assets. They save and invest accordingly for a longer period. First they accumulate sufficient money before enjoyment. They spend enough money to cover all the activities smoothly.
Rich are always rich in each and every spheres. Their every moves are calculated and tension free as they manage the things very nicely.
They believe in hard and smart work, their performances are always goal oriented. Nothing they do aimlessly.
Rich are always rich due to his consistent performance, discipline, honesty, determination, patience, sincerity, dedication and devotion towards work, risks managing capabilities, a very strong will power to achieve the goals and a consistent investor.
Their every moves are goals oriented and beneficial for them. All rich people may not have a similar lifestyle to live their lives. Every body are having their own lifestyles of their lives. Some are extravagant and some others are miser.
Some rich believe to live a luxurious life. Mostly rich are enjoying the lifestyle of five Star hotels and motels life, picnics, air travels and tours etc.
In my opinion, some wealthy people are obnoxious in flaunting it, and other wealthy people are discreet, but there are three things they share in common: security, opulence, and time. By security, I don’t mean armed bodyguards (although some do that), I mean the security of knowing there will always be ‘enough’ and that everything will work out. The security of knowing that life’s questions are pretty much already answered for you and, unless you do something seriously stupid, you are just on the glide path to enjoyment and fulfillment. The second, opulence, is just a fancy word for plenty. There is always plenty of whatever you want. That is why the shoe closet has hundreds of pairs, or the garage is 12 bay, or there are six family homes, etc. When the wealthy entertain, the food is always top shelf and there is enough to feed everybody ten times over. The wealthy will never allow their guests to feel like the guest is about to eat the last serving of anything. There is always another full tray waiting to land on the buffet. Time comes in the form of hiring others to do everything they don’t want to do. They wealthy do not shop for groceries, clean the house, laundry, drive, landscape, repair, etc. They do not do any of the ordinary mundane things of living UNLESS they CHOOSE to. This frees up a lot of time for the wealthy to either enjoy their time or think up news ways to obtain even more wealth.
Hmm this is a hypothetical but practical one which can be easily classified by different activities of any human being at different stages of life.
- Childhood : Expensive gifts, good schooling maybe international ones, Proper diet planning, cool vacations, English all over along with unwanted attention during various public gathering are some of the key factors for differentiating during the childhood of a rich kid .
- Teenage: Rich teenagers have again multiple ways for spending time doing activities like Club houses, Discs, girlfriends.
- Young Age: In terms of job Aspiring become a MBA graduate ,Engineer, doctor ,pilot ,CA,MS family business etc, are some of the areas looked in terms of profession by majority of the rich family background.
- Rich take care of society, ambience ,crowd, comfort.
- Rest all from marriage till the death continues by each rich in their own best possible ways with more or less rituals depending on the upbringing of both.
